Verizon LG Chocolate Touch coming in the next two weeks?

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

We were just hit up by a new Verizon connect and it looks like the LG Chocolate Touch is on the horizon. We’re told that retail stores should be receiving stock within the next two weeks, which makes sense since it was featured in Verizon’s Holiday Lineup list. In case you missed the details, the Chocolate Touch will pack a 3.2 megapixel camera, EV-DO Rev. 0 (they couldn’t get with the times and get Rev. A?), Visual Voicemail and VZ Navigator. We’re not sure how we feel about the design, especially with LG offerings like the BL20 and BL40, you’d think this fresh new touch screen wouldn’t look like it was designed in the late 90s. It also looks like it’s packing the same tired OS which will look even more dead once Droid/s hit the scene, but with the right pricing we think this could do well with those who aren’t looking for full-featured smartphones. Hit the jump for a shot of the back.

AT&T ’s upcoming Windows Mobile handsets;HP Obsidian, LG Monoca

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

One of our ninjas just blessed us with a look at a portion of AT&T’s Windows Mobile road-map for the rest of the year. Quickly glancing at it we can see that the AT&T Tilt 2 will obviously launch in October, and refreshingly, the Samsung Epix and Samsung Jack will be getting upgrades to Windows Mobile 6.5 courtesy of upcoming maintenance releases. What’s more exciting, however, are the HP Obsidian and LG Monaco launches. While not brand new to the world, it’s nice to know that these Windows Mobile business-focused handsets will finally see the light of day come November. We know October is going to be full of 6.5 handsets like the Tilt 2 and Pure, and November shows no signs of slowing down either. Here’s a quick refresher on specifications for the LG Monaco and HP Obsidian and a larger shot after the break:

HP Obsidian:

  • Bluetooth 2.0

LG announces the Android-infused LG-GW620

Monday, September 14th, 2009

While LG has never appeared to be particularly interested in offering Android smartphones, today the Korean company officially took the wraps off of its first Android device in the LG-GW620. A slider with a full-QWERTY keypad, LG made the strange decision to withhold most of the GW620’s specs in its press release despite having shown it off at a trade show just one week ago. But because of this recent appearance, we know that the GW620 also known as the “Etna” has 3-inch HVGA touchscreen display, 5 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3.6 Mbps UMTS/HSDPA connectivity. You can expect to see the LG-GW620 in Europe sometime in the next quarter, although disappointingly there was no mention of a North American release. Hit the jump for some high-res press shot goodness.

LG Etna Android phone sneaks onto the scene at IFA

Monday, September 7th, 2009

Well, well, looks like LG’s got more in its Android bag than just that GW880 for China Mobile. Vodafone was casually displaying the Android-based Etna at its IFA booth, and while we don’t know too much about the QWERTY slider, we do have some basic specs — you’re looking at at 3-inch touchscreen, a five megapixel camera, and what looks like a pretty stock Android install. No word on price or release date, but LG is supposedly lauching three Android sets this year, so we’re hoping we’ll find out more real soon.

LG Canada outs LGBliss and Keybo2

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

Oops. While neither handset is due for launch until this Friday, apparently LG just couldn’t wait to take the wraps off either of these puppies. Both handsets are now fully detailed on LG’s Canadian site and, despite their humdrum specs, we just can’t resist it when a company leaks its own handsets. Beginning with the LGBliss, pictured above left, we’re looking at an August 7th launch from Bell with pricing coming in at $79.95 CAD on a 3-year contract. In terms of specs you’ve got a full 3-inch 240×400 pixel touchscreen, 2 megapixel camera, video capture capability, 4 1/2 hours of talk time and a UI that even looks terrible in the marketing renders. TELUS’ Keybo2 will also launch on August 7th and will be priced at $129.99 CAD on a 3-year contract. Here we’ve got a dual-keypad clamshell with a 2.6-inch 320×240 pixel internal display and a 1.56-inch 160×96 pixel external display. Other notable specs include a 3 megapixel camera with video capture, stereo Bluetooth support and up to 5 1/3 hours of talk time. There’s still no word on whether or not we can expect either handset to launch elsewhere in the near future, not that you care.

Useful LG Cell Phone Accessories

If you own an LG cell phone, and it has Bluetooth capabilities, there are various accessories which you can obtain which can be useful and will enable you to get more out of your device. Bluetooth headsets are essential for answering and making calls while driving, as using one hand to steer will naturally reduce your control over the vehicle. Other useful accessories include Bluetooth dongles which can be used with your computer and the relevant software package to transfer data between your phone and computer.

Protective LG Cell Phone Accessories

Protective LG cell phone accessories such as full covers as well as partial screen covers can be obtained via your online cell phone accessories supplier. Screen protection will help to prevent your phone from becoming so scratched that it is difficult to read text on the screen, and this can easily happen when your phone is carried around in your pocket with keys and other potentially abrasive items. An all-round cover will also protect your keypad from becoming worn.

New LG Cell Phone Batteries

Cell batteries may be rechargeable, but like all batteries they have a limited life cycle, and these are often the first components of a cell phone to require replacement. If you have an LG cell phone, batteries for both older and newer models can be found easily and purchased online, and you should be able to save money on what you would pay for batteries and other cell phone accessories at a retail outlet.

Generic LG Cell Phone Batteries

If you need a budget new battery for your cell phone or are looking for a spare, you can obtain generic LG cell phone batteries which are cheaper than OEM product and have been tested thoroughly for quality. In addition to standard batteries for LG cell phones and other brands, your supplier of cell phone batteries and accessories is likely to have extended batteries available for the same cell phone models, and these are ideal if you would like to be able to use your cell phone for longer between charges..

LG launches the LG-GM730 Windows smartphone

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

LG Electronics (LG), a global leader and technology innovator in mobile communications, today announced the launch of the LG-GM730, its newest handset in LG’s smartphone line with advanced features that are also easy to use. This is the first smartphone to offer the new version of Windows Mobile 6.1, integrated with LG’s advanced 3D S-Class User Interface. The LG-GM730 will be on display at CommunicAsia 2009 in Singapore from June 16-19.The LG-GM730 was designed for fast and easy operation so users can experience the latest smartphone features without spending too much time or effort with the user manual.

“Users, especially beginners, find smartphones to be too complicated for everyday tasks because of their unfamiliar and complex environments,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “The combination of Windows Mobile and our new S-Class UI will make the LG-GM730 the most functional and easiest to use smartphone ever created. Starting with LG-GM730, we are introducing a new direction for phones that are smart and advanced but at the same time, user-friendly.”

“It’s great to see the extended LG and Microsoft alliance come to fruition with the launch of the stylish LG GM730 smartphone,” said Andy Lees, Senior Vice President, Mobile Communication Business, Microsoft Corp. He also added, “Combining LG’s technology and design leadership with the Windows Mobile platform has resulted in a great phone that will enable consumers to stay connected with people, information and services they care about most.”

Enhanced User Friendly Operation

LG’s S-Class UI is designed to make smartphones easier to use while still delivering the advanced, familiar capabilities of Windows Mobile. Built-around a 3D cube layout, the S-Class UI eliminates nested menus wherever possible, providing more direct access to features and applications. A simple flick of a finger rotates the cube so that any one of its five faces can be accessed instantly.

LG-GM730’s multitasking environment allows users to run a number of applications simultaneously in separate windows without having to stop one task to start another. “Cut and paste” allows users to copy content from the internet and paste it into documents or send it via email.

What makes the S-Class UI and Windows Mobile combination so easy to use is that features and applications on the LG-GM730 are so well integrated. Email, for example, is easier to set up and use because the phone’s schedule and contact lists are connected. This means users can send and receive messages using less key presses than on regular smartphones. Writing and sending an e-mail to an address already in the contact list is just one tap away. Folders from Outlook on home or office computers sync perfectly with the LG-GM730 which means the information on any device is the most current one. Push email means instant notification of incoming messages, eliminating the need to log in manually and check for new mail.

Smartphone Features in Slim and Sleek Packaging

Smartphones are known primarily as tools for business but the LG-GM730 is capable of much more. Networking on the Map Service, a navigation-based social networking service, enables users to see where their friends are while communicating in real time. Advanced multimedia features such as a 5 megapixel camera, MP3 player and numerous action-packed games make this phone a full-featured entertainment device.

The LG-GM730 incorporates LG’s signature style with a slim, seamless profile and smooth, stylish rounded edges. At just 11.9mm and highlighted by an elegant chrome band, this slim handset is the perfect on-the-go device for new as well as experienced smartphone users. Despite its small size, the LG-GM730 still manages to pack in all the essential productivity software with room to spare. This advanced mobile device is available in three colors: Black, Lime and Pale Pink.

The LG-GM730 will be available globally, with its initial launch in Asia this July. The LG-GM730’s launch coincides with the opening of LG Application Store, which expand the capabilities of LG’s smartphones.

LG cell phone accessories for both newer and older models of cell phone can be found, even items for discontinued models which are no longer commonly available, and thus it is possible to find chargers and other peripherals that are essential as well.
